Embassy Group sponsors school van for Angels Orphanage

Hosts fashion show in association with Prasad Bidapa Associates and renowned designers Abraham & Thakore

Annual Scholarship to be raised to facilitate training for anyone from the orphanage who wishes to pursue the discipline of fashion

Bangalore, July 04, 2012: Embassy Group, one of the leading Bangalore-based real estate developers, has sponsored a school van for the children of Angels Orphanage, Shivajinagar, Bangalore, as a part of its education initiatives for under privileged children. Mr. Jitu Virwani, Chairman & MD, Embassy Property Developments Private Limited. handed over the keys for the school van to Mrs. Sabina Solomon, Principal of Angels Orphanage. Following the event, Embassy in association with Prasad Bidapa Associates hosted a fashion show at UB City to benefit children of the orphanage.

Noted Bangalore-based fashion designer Prasad Bidapa in association with Delhi based top Indian designers David Abraham & Rakesh Thakore presented a fashion show of their Fall Winter 2012-13 collection at City Bar, UB City. The fashion show was staged with the goal of raising funds for the kids of Angels Orphanage as an ongoing fundraiser program. Abraham and Thakore have created an annual scholarship for a gifted student who wishes to pursue a career in fashion which includes disciplines ranging from design & apparel manufacturing to merchandising and marketing. The student will also be mentored by the designers and will get to apprentice under them once they complete their education.

Mr. Jitu Virwani, Chairman & MD, Embassy Property Developments, said, "it has always been my endeavour to reach out to the less fortunate in the best possible way for the betterment of society. I strongly believe that education is an enabler that goes a long way in charting the future of underprivileged children."

Mr. Jitu Virwani authorized the purchase of a school van for the children of Angels Orphanage after he was made aware of the problems faced by them. There are 60 children living at the orphanage who go to schools scattered around Bangalore - each one with different timings. The orphanage was finding it difficult to manage the logistics of sending the children to school using a variety of transport - from auto rickshaws to ferrying kids to Government buses, with pick-ups to cope with as well.

"I am grateful to the Embassy Group for lending their support to Angels Orphanage. While the van will take care of a lot of the logistical issues at the orphanage, the funding will go a long way in enabling the education of some of our deserving ‘Angels’ in the field of fashion," said Mrs. Sabina Solomon, Principal, Angels Orphanage.

The van donated to Angels Orphanage will prove useful as it will provide the children with transportation to the schools; attend functions, enable them able to take a child to a hospital in case there is a serious illness in the middle of the night as well as meet a host of other logistical needs. There is adequate space on the premises for the van to be parked.
