Embassy Group rebuilds Cox Town Government Kannada Model Primary School

Part of Embassy Group’s commitment to education and focus on brightening up the future of young minds

Bangalore, India – January 7, 2015: Embassy Group, India’s leading real estate developer, in association with ‘Colours of Life’ has rebuilt the Govt. Kannada Model Primary School, Cox Town as a part of their ongoing Corporate Social Responsible initiatives. The School was inaugurated on 7th January, 2014.

Located at Sarvagna Nagar, Bangalore, the school was officially opened by guest-of-honours Mrs. Raj Virwani, representative from Embassy Group, Mr. Mohammad Mohsin - Commissioner of Public Instructions, Mr. Ramesh - Block Education Officer, Cox Town and Ms. Vinisha Nero, MLA, Government of Karnataka. The event was attended by government officials, the principal, teachers and students of the school as well as parents from the local community and members of Colours of Life.

Recognising that education and the accessibility of a neighbourhood school with good basic facilities is a core development need of the community, Embassy Group in partnership with Colours of Life, commissioned the reconstruction of the school building to create a more conducive learning environment for the children. Prior to the reconstruction, student strength was approximately 150. With the new building, the school aims to improve student capacity. The re – construction which has taken close to a year involved a major makeover to fix leaking roofs, cracked walls, and inadequate lavatory and infrastructure facilities  

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Jitu Virwani, Chairman and Managing Director, Embassy Group said, “We at Embassy Group strongly believe in the notion of giving back to the society. We strongly believe that the future of India depends upon the quality of education imparted to our children. As a result, our Corporate Social Responsibility program consistently focuses on education - adopting government schools to improve the infrastructure, faculty and facilities of the school to help aspiring underprivileged children”.

In addition to the extensive reconstruction work undertaken the Embassy Group along with “Colours of Life” will offer ongoing support and facilities including improved Infrastructure, regular deep cleaning undertaken every 2-3 months, provision of teaching assistants to support computer classes, art & craft, football & counselling. This initiative is part of Embassy Group’s focus on education and support to over 10 government schools in the city covering close to 3000 children.
